Remedial Massage plays a vital role in enhancing sports performance by promoting muscle recovery, flexibility, and overall physical well-being.
Athletes often incorporate massage into their training routines because it helps reduce muscle soreness, break down adhesions, and increase blood circulation, allowing for quicker healing and improved range of motion. This, in turn, can lead to better performance, as athletes can train more effectively and with reduced risk of injury.
Additionally, the relaxation and stress reduction benefits of massage contribute to a balanced mental state, aiding in focus and concentration during sports events, whether you play soccer, football, netball, basketball, gymnastics or any other sport.
Remedial massage offers a range of benefits for relieving general muscle tension. It can effectively alleviate muscle knots, stiffness, and discomfort by targeting specific problem areas, promoting blood flow, and enhancing the body’s natural healing processes.
This type of massage helps improve flexibility, reduce pain, and release built-up stress, ultimately leading to a greater sense of relaxation and well-being.
By addressing muscle tension, remedial massage can significantly enhance physical comfort and mobility, making it an ideal natural choice for those seeking relief from everyday aches and pains, as well as a proactive approach to maintaining overall muscular health.

Remedial massage is tailored to target specific problem areas, often using deep tissue techniques, and is designed to alleviate pain and discomfort.
Massage during pregnancy can be extremely beneficial for you and your little one, after your first trimester. There are some safety guidelines and procedures to follow, and your massage therapist will be able to inform you if there is a reason why you may not be advised to have treatment, after they assess your individual needs and profile.
If you are pregnant, there are some precautions and contraindications to be aware of prior to having a massage. These include:
- First Trimester: It is advised to avoid massage during the first trimester due to the increased risk of miscarriage.
- High-Risk Pregnancy: Women with high-risk pregnancies or certain medical conditions should consult with their healthcare provider before seeking massage therapy. Conditions such as preeclampsia or a history of preterm labor may require special considerations.
- Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage techniques can be too intense during pregnancy. Techniques are adjusted to your stage and requirements on the day
- Supine Position: After the first trimester, lying flat on your back (the supine position) can put pressure on a major vein, potentially reducing blood flow to the uterus and causing dizziness or other complications. Side-lying or semi-reclined positions are used instead.
- Abdominal Massage: Direct pressure on the abdomen should be avoided during pregnancy.
- Pressure Points: Some pressure points on the body are associated with inducing labor. Our therapists are aware of these points.
- Swelling and Edema: If you experience significant swelling (edema) in your legs or other areas, massage may not be recommended, as it can potentially worsen the condition.
- Pain or Discomfort: If you experience pain, discomfort, or any adverse reactions during the massage, it’s essential to communicate with the therapist and discontinue the session if necessary.
- Hydration: Staying well-hydrated before and after a massage is important, especially during pregnancy.
Always communicate openly with your therapist about your pregnancy and any concerns you may have.
