What do you get when you mix remedial massage therapy, free health checks, a mountain of jelly beans, and a whole lot of local spirit? One incredible weekend at the Hawkesbury Show!
Renee, Adriana and Emily had an absolute blast running our stall this year, and we’re still riding the high (and slightly recovering from all the excitement). From early morning set-up to late-night laughs, we were there to connect, support, and celebrate health in all its forms – with a few ankle brace fittings thrown in for good measure.
Massage That Hit the Spot!
Our massage station was a mum and dad favourite. For just $15, people got to experience the power of professional hands-on treatment from Renee – many for the very first time. We offered short, targeted massages to ease tight muscles, start meaningful conversations about body niggles, and give people a chance to pause and tune into how they were really feeling (and escape the busy crowds).
Let’s just say: we saw tight shoulders and stressed-out backs. But we also saw a whole lot of smiles after just 10 minutes of care.
Movement, Health Checks & Meaningful Chats
Our stall wasn’t just about massages. It was a full-service pit stop for curious minds and tired bodies. Adriana (Exercise Physiologist) and Emily (Physio) shared practical tips for keeping active at any age or ability. Whether someone wanted advice on managing a health condition, staying strong as they age, or just getting started after a long break – we were there to listen and support without judgement.
We also offered:
- Free health checks – blood pressure checks can be a great icebreaker to get people thinking about their wellbeing.
- Free ankle brace fittings – helpful for those managing old injuries or trying to stay active safely.
- Fisiocrem samples – because who doesn’t love a freebie that actually helps with sore muscles?
It wasn’t about a hard sell. It was about sparking conversations, breaking down barriers, and giving people a real-world taste of how allied health can support them – whether they’re dealing with pain, wanting to move more, or simply unsure of where to start.
The Jelly Bean Showdown
Of course, the jelly bean guessing competition brought a bit of old-school fun to the mix. Kids loved it. Adults were weirdly competitive about it. Everyone wanted a crack. We saw everything from wild guesses to full-blown math strategies. One lucky winner went home with a great prize – $100 gift voucher to spend in the clinic – and probably a newfound respect for jar geometry.
Why We Showed Up
Community connection is at the heart of what we do. Being out in the sunshine, having real conversations with real people (between bites of corn on the cob), reminded us why collaborative, inclusive health care matters. Not everyone walks into a clinic, but many will wander up to a stall, curious and open. That’s the kind of access we’re here to create.
We’re grateful to have had the chance to be part of such a vibrant event – and to play a small role in helping people feel more informed, empowered, and cared for.
Until Next Time…
Whether you came for the massage, the health chat, or the jelly beans – thank you. It was a joy to meet you, support you, and maybe even surprise you with how simple and welcoming allied health can be.
We’re not making any promises about next year just yet, but let’s just say… we’re glad we showed up.
